Job Summary:
Provide Islamic religious guidance, practices, and leadership to the Muslim community in Calgary according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him); establish and promote educational and extracurricular programs for adults and youth. Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies or related field from an accredited Islamic Institution.
- Fluency in English (must) and Arabic (an Asset).
- Hafiz Qur’an (desired ).
- Comprehensive knowledge of Islamic Shariah, Quran and Hadith.
- Demonstrated experience in Islamic family and youth counseling.
- Practical experience as an Imam or Assistant Imam (desired but not must).
- Ability to interact with and relate to youth.
- Ability to work with people of different cultures and backgrounds.
- Experience in teaching and explaining Islam to Non-Muslim.
- Ability to teach Qur’an and religion.
- Willingness to be supervised and follow instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily Fajr, Maghreb and Ishaa prayers at the Masjid.
- Daily office hours at the Masjid.
- Conduct and lead Tahfeez Program at the Masjid.
- Lead Jumma prayers at the local and neighbouring Masajid.
- Regularly lead Taraweeh prayers with the completion.
- Lead Eid prayers and deliver khutbahs.
- Provide funeral services and guidance.
- Providing matrimonial services.
- Offer Islamic family and youth counseling and guidance as needed.
- Conduct periodic Halaqas at the Masjid.
